Sunday Stanza: Moonlight

I see the moon shining through the trees,
casting shadows changing all around me.
Walking through starlight a sway of gently breeze.
Lost in a moment enveloping me.
Caught up in creation, tell me what it is I see,
reflections of beauty a world made just for me.
Sometimes I stare forever, but never do I see.
It passes right by me, the connection I need.
Stay a little longer please stay with me.

The Role Of Social Media In Our World

Recently in Egypt the world witness an uprising against a dictatorial regime. The different social classes of Egypt's society stood together to topple the governing force of tyranny. The poor, the working and the educated combined their efforts to demand change within their country. Social Media was the catalyst that triggered a swift movement causing the people to unite.

Social medias such as Twitter and Facebook gave the people a real time connection causing a cumulative effort. The ability to communicate in real time prove to be the straw that broke the camels back.

Social media is a great tool, it allows us to communicate to the world around us. It enables us to spread the word about anything that is on our minds.

I use social media to blog about music venues, local talent and it enables me to view information about talent from around the world.

Sunday Stanza: Reflection

Skim the glass surface
ripple
watch the ice melt
trickle
warm summer sun fade
swallows swooping sippin
lemonade
I hear the hum in my ear
the beat of my heart becomes clear
I listen to the sound
enveloped surround
the ticking of the clock
seems so evident
wondering where the time went
take a moment to reflect

On Sundays look for a new verse of thought in written form. I will share thought from my past as well as today. I invite you to comment freely.

The Road To Nowhere.

Life is full of roads, alleyways and crossroads that lead us as people to choices. These choices aren't always easy to make or to see the outcome. There are many roads to nowhere. However, this picture leads my imagination to possibilities. I find the color upon the pale backdrop to give a glimpse of expectation. Life is as such; a glimpse but not a whole portrait.
Fog And Sunlight,  McCain007
On the road to creativity and expression there are many trails that can catch the heart. Where we decide to let our heart linger will become the expression of our lives. So if you find yourself on a road to nowhere as Robert Plant said "There's still time to change the road you're on." So find your inspiration, believe in where you're going and always remember whatever stage you find yourself on, you can do it!

Fiddlers Hearth Public House

When I think of a Celtic Pub my mind tends to drift towards good food, great spirits and intoxicating Celtic rhythms. Fiddlers Hearth  is located downtown South Bend at 127 North Main St. and has a perfect blend of the three.

I am a member of the East Race Whitewater Kayak Club located a couple blocks from the pub. Many times after kayaking the East Race some of us from the group would meet at Fiddlers for food, drinks and local entertainment.

At Fiddlers Hearth you can find a menu that reflects the tradition of seven Celtic nations. I find it hard to refuse some good fish and chips. Fiddlers is also known for great beer and hold a gold standard pint certification from Guinness. This means they know their beer!

Now that your belly is full and your spirit has been elevated by the perfectly presented Guinness it must be getting close to 8:30, did I mention it's Wednesday night? Perfect! It's time for the Acoustic open stage hosted by Al Kniola of The Back Porch on 88.1 FM WFPV.

Onstage the spotlight exhibits flamboyant musicians perfecting their craft. Expect to hear anything from traditional Irish pub songs to Prince. Also you will find musicians presenting their original work. It's a great way to relax and enjoy some local talent in the comfort of a public house.

Every Wednesday night at 8:30 Fiddlers Hearth opens the stage for local musicians. On the weekends the pub opens the stage to acts from around the country. So bring a friend and enjoy some great food and drinks. You will find an atmosphere vibrant with culture resonating local talent. Cheers!
